Privacy policy

Updated 7 October 2026. This is the English translation of the French original. Here is, plainly, what this site collects, why, and for how long.

The rest of this page covers each point in detail. The terms of service are a separate page.

Who is responsible for your personal information

Québec's Law 25 requires a named person. Here they are.

Max Baker — owner of MonRôle and the person in charge of the protection of personal information.
MonRôle, 1585 Rue Sherbrooke Ouest, Montréal, Québec H3H 1H5

What happens when you browse the site

The server log

Like every web server, ours keeps a request log: your IP address, the page requested, the time, and the browser type. It exists for security, to limit abuse, and to diagnose outages. It is deleted automatically after 14 days. It is never joined to anything else, and nobody reads it to find out who looked at which property.

Usage counters

The site counts how often a property page is opened, how often the offer is seen, and how many purchases are started. These counters record the municipality, the kind of device (phone or computer), and the site you came from, if any. They hold no IP address, no identifier, and not the property viewed. They cannot be traced back to a person.

The map

Map tiles come from OpenFreeMap. When the map draws, your browser requests the tiles from their server, which therefore sees your IP address, as with any image loaded from another site. The map library (MapLibre) is loaded from unpkg.com with a verified fingerprint, so it cannot be altered in transit.

Outbound links

Some links lead to Québec government sites (the review request form, the land register) and to Google Maps for Street View. Once you follow them, their policies apply.

Cookies and storage in your browser

This site uses no cookies. It does keep a few settings in your browser's local storage (localStorage). These settings never leave your device and are not sent to us. Here they are, all of them:

To erase everything: delete the site data for monrole.ca in your browser settings. The site then behaves exactly as on a first visit.

If this site ever loaded an audience-measurement or advertising tool, this page would change and your consent would be asked first. That is not the case today.

Reserving your spot for the next roll

On any property whose municipality will file a new roll, you can reserve your spot: one email the day that roll is published. Here is exactly what that involves.

These addresses are never sold or shared, and are used for nothing else. The email is sent through Resend, which sees the address for the duration of the send.

Purchases

The $49 payment happens on Stripe's page, not on this site. Stripe receives your name, your card and your email address, and sends you the receipt. We keep neither your name, your card, nor your email address: we keep the property concerned, the amount, the date and Stripe's reference number, which is what it takes to refund you and to reopen your dossier. If you buy the figure in dollars ($5), your email address is also kept on the reserve list for that property, on the consent shown on the payment page, and is deleted as the publication-day email is sent.

The email carrying the link to your dossier is sent through Resend to the address Stripe passes us, without our keeping it. The link itself is personal: do not share it.

Where the data is

In other words, the little personal information this site handles is kept outside Québec. That is why we keep it to a minimum and for as short a time as possible.

Your rights

You may ask what we hold about you, have it corrected, have it deleted, and withdraw your consent at any time. The unsubscribe link in the reminder email does the last of those without asking anyone. For the rest, write to contact@monrole.ca.

If you are not satisfied with the answer, the Commission d'accès à l'information du Québec hears complaints.

Changes

This page carries the date of its last update. Any change to what we collect will be written here before it takes effect.
